Caroline Marie Funkner

Carol, who left us peacefully on January 16, 2025, was a dedicated wife, mother and friend. Carol lived in the foothills of Tollhouse, California for 48 years and felt incredibly blessed to be surrounded by its beauty. A true adventurer, she had many interests and passions throughout her life including; gardening, hiking, raising chickens and goats, painting, discussing politics, and traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad. In everything she did and everywhere she went, she loved to talk. She thrived off of the acquisition of knowledge and as such, she never met a stranger and always enjoyed any opportunity to have a stimulating conversation.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Gerald (Jerry), whom she would refer to as the best thing that ever happened to her, as well as her son Todd Smith, daughter Tera Baker and son-in-law David, son Edward (Eddie) Funkner and daughter in-law Barbara (Bobbi Jo). She took great pride and joy in her grandchildren, Rachel Volochiy and her husband Edward (Eddie), Savannah, Thomas, and Anna. She is also survived by many beloved and cherished sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
