Cathy was the embodiment of love and grace throughout her life. Whether with family, friends, or in her work, she was always nurturing, a unifier, and an uplifter.
No matter what life threw at her, Cathy took each challenge in stride.
From being a single Mom, to caring for her aged parents, to walking through her recent cancer diagnosis, Cathy managed her entire life with purpose, grace, and dignity.
Caring and creative, Cathy started multiple businesses throughout her life, all centered on care. She opened a daycare, then co owned Amenities, a day spa at Fig Garden Village, and most recently, a senior care placement agency called A Senior Blessing.
Cathy truly was a blessing to all who knew her. She greeted each day with prayer and a joyful heart. She loved nature, both the ocean and the mountains, and spent much of her youth riding and showing horses.
One of her favorite quotes was: “The Mountains are Calling and I Must Go,” by John Muir. Being outdoors, whether hiking, walking her Labrador Retriever, Taylor, or listening to birds, made her heart sing. She appreciated nature and was steadied by its beauty and its calming influence on her life. Cathy always found a way to make ordinary days feel special. It was a gift she gave to herself and those around her.
Cathy’s faith in Jesus was the foundation she built her life upon. Those her knew her were quick to ask her for counsel that often came with scripture to encourage you. Her love for Christ poured out to all her relationships in the way she treated people with kindness and love. She was involved in many ministries in her church one of her favorites was serving on the worship team with her husband Gray. She loved to sing.
During her diagnosis Cathy shared with her husband and those around her that she smiles at her future in heaven knowing that to be absent from this world is to be present with the Lord.
Cathy will be sorely missed but lovingly remembered.
She leaves behind her husband Gray Jason of 19 years; her four children, Michael, Jonathan, Brian Kohr, Megan (Kohr) Avitia and son in law Jarret Avitia, and four grandchildren, Norah, Riley, Elius and James Avitia.
