Catherine grew up on the Podsakoff Farm in Kerman California and graduated from Kerman High School in 1956. She attended Humboldt State College and graduated with a teaching degree, in 1961. She was able to secure a teaching position at Tranquility High School at the time of her graduation and taught there for 33 years.
Catherine married Herman Schroeder in December of 1960, right before she graduated college. Catherine and Herman settled in Kerman, California and made a wonderful life that was filled with many outdoor activities including camping, fishing, trap shooting, tennis, skiing and later in life scuba diving.
Catherine is preceded in death by her husband Herman Schroeder, her parents, older half sister, Alice Novikoff and brother-in-laws, John Novikoff and Vaughn Chamness.
Catherine is survived by her son, Ryan, daughter-in-law, Anmarie and grandchildren, Jack and Faith Schroeder; older sister, Pauline Chamness and younger brother Bill; and sister-in-law, Pearl Podsakoff .
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns and Blair Funeral Home, 836 E Nees Ave., Fresno CA 93720
