

Celso T Romero Sr., age 73, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, Godfather, compadre, brother, uncle, friend passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. He was born on January 9, 1943 in a rural ranch called Santo Domingo near Jalpa, Zacatecas, Mexico.
He immigrated to the US and settled in Compton, CA before moving his family to Fresno. Moving his family to Fresno meant getting the boys out of Compton, a city near LA known for gangs at the time. Celso wanted a better life for his family and knew that Fresno would offer that. In Fresno, Celso was employed with McCall's Nurseries for more than 30 years until his retirement two years ago. One of his passions was farming. He and his brother Erasmo spent countless hours working the lands in and around Fresno. They harvested, sugar canes, tomatillos, peppers, corn and other vegetables. He truly enjoyed farming and was
looking forward to re-joining his brother for the upcoming crop.
Celso also enjoyed traveling to Jalpa to visit a few times a year! His favorite time to visit Jalpa was in December, where he would meet up with other relatives, family and friends to celebrate Christmas and the New Year as well as his birthday.
He was married to Evangelina for 51 years with whom he raised 8 children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eliseo and Esther Romero and a son, Mario Romero.
Celso is survived by his wife, Evangelina; son, Victor and his wife Lupe; son, Jose Luis and his wife Lety; son, Jesus; son, Rodrigo and his wife China; son, Celso Jr and his wife Flor; daughter, Rosa; daughter, Griselda and 19 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several God children.
