Charles Newton Burt, Jr. a resident of Fresno and retired from New England Sheet Metal Works as a superintendent, passed away on May 19, 2014 at the age of 89. He was born on July 18, 1924 in Fillmore, Nebraska to Charles and Jennie Burt, Sr.
He served in the Marine Corps during WWII and was at Iwo Jima and at the flag raising that was immortalized by photographer, Joe Rosenthal.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Estelle Burt.
He is survived by his sons Jerry, Dennis, and Stanley Burt, and daughters Jeanne Catterall and Karen Ivey.
Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Monday, May 26, 2014 from 10:00 am until 4:00.
Funeral Service will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 11:00 am.
Interment with Marine Corps Honors to follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
