Charles Douglas Dearing, 78, passed away on March 1, 2026. Born December 19, 1947, in Arizona to Charley Dearing and Ruby Cottrill, he grew up in Fresno and graduated from C.L. McLane High School in 1966.
Doug married his childhood sweetheart, Leislie Dearing, on September 23, 1967, and joined the United States Air Force in November of 1967. He began his dedicated banking career with Bank of America in Fresno, California, on September 1, 1968. Doug and his wife Leislie welcomed their son, Matthew, on April 2, 1972, and in June of 1980 they welcomed their daughter, Paisley Dearing, into their family.
In 1990, Doug left Bank of America and opened Yosemite Bank in Oakhurst, California, on February 1, 1991. He served as branch manager through 2013, when he retired after 44 years of banking—an accomplished and steadfast professional life marked by commitment and service.
Doug was a devoted member of Rotary from 1991 to 2014. He was awarded Rotarian of the Year in 2008–2009 and received the Paul Harris Fellow recognition. He was also a long-standing member of the Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce, where he was named Man of the Year in 1994, served for thirty years, and was president of the chamber in 1996.
In his spare time, Doug enjoyed fishing, BBQing, and woodworking—simple pleasures that reflected his steady, capable, and warm-hearted nature.
Visitation will be held at Palm La Paz Funerals & Cremations, 1605 L. Street , Fresno, CA 93721, on March 17, 2026, at 9:00 am. A Celebration of Life will follow at 10:00 am .
A Committal Service will take place at Fresno Memorial Gardens, 175 S Cornelia Ave, Fresno, CA 93706, on March 17, 2026, at11:30 am.
