Chuck Moran was born on April 13, 1927, to Bessie and Jesse Moran in Arcadia, California and returned to his Lord on Saturday, August 11, 2012. He grew up on his parents' farm southwest of Fresno. He followed in their Christian faith, work ethic and interest in music. He attended Manning Elementary, Washington Union High School, and Fresno State College. He served in the Occupation of Japan. Following that he returned to Fresno State and became student body president and football team captain, playing guard and defensive tackle. He received Little All America honors and was selected in the pro draft but pursued other interests. He received the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Besser Lindsay award for scholarship, athletics and fraternity, and membership in the Blue Key National Honor Fraternity, and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Chuck married his love, Winifred Biliskov, of Kerman. They were married over sixty-one years. He returned to the service as a reserve officer on active duty in the U.S. Air Force, including service in a special ops unit assigned to the CIA. He earned a Master's Degree from Fresno State in Education and from Oregon State University in Biological Sciences. After briefly teaching at Fresno High School, he taught sciences at Fresno City College for the rest of his career. Additionally, Chuck sold homes in Fresno. He practiced creative financing and worked with minorities in an era when many did not. In so doing, he was able to help many people throughout Fresno County own a house of their own. Every trip through the foothills was a botany lesson for his family, as his favorite hobby was gardening. He also enjoyed fishing and handball. Chuck was Co-Chairman of the Fresno County Clean Air Council, member of the Youth in Conservation, Fresno Teachers Association, and the Bulldog Foundation. He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian, St. Luke's United Methodist and Palm Avenue Community Churches. He was forced to retire early for medical reasons, and in his courageous attitude he remained a teacher by example. He maintained his faith, sense of humor and ethics through it all. Chuck was preceded in death by his two brothers and his sister; and his greatest loss, his daughter, Lisa DeMera. He is survived by his devoted wife Winnie, who constantly cared for him through it all; and his son Charlie and his wife Janet, also of Fresno; son-in-law, David DeMera; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Thursday, August 16, 2012, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. There will be a private burial at Belmont Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will be held at Palm Avenue Community Church on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Palm Avenue Community Church, 222 E.
