Choy was born June 13, 1928 in Guangzhou, China and passed peacefully in her sleep September 19, 2024. She was married to the late Fook G. Yim and raised her family in China. Choy immigrated to California with her family in 1983 to allow for her family to have a better life. Choy worked in agriculture in China to support her family, and then in grocery after immigrating to America.
In her retirement, she cared for her grandchildren. She enjoyed simple activities like puzzles, helping her husband with gardening, watching old Hong Kong movies, knitting, and enjoying yum cha and dim sum with her family. Choy was the matriarch of the family and ensured the whole family gathered for all special occasions. Her most cherished time was family time.
Choy is survived by her three children: Lisa, Allen, and Linda, her grandchildren: Kevin, Joanna, Stephanie, Fiona, Dina, Christina, William, Tiffany, Shirley, Andy, and her great grandchildren: Penelope, and Juniper. She always had a smile on her face when her grandchildren visited, and as they all blossomed into adults, she always wanted to make sure they got a college education.
Choy will be dearly missed by her family.
