

Christine Angelos Gonos, beloved wife, mother and Yiayia passed away on March 29, 2022, she was 85 years old. She was born July 16, 1936 in Los Angeles, CA to parents Nicholas and Sophia Angelos. She spent her childhood in Los Angeles and attended UCLA. She met Art Gonos and married in 1955. They had 5 children Debbie, Michael, Kathleen, Angelo and Demitri. Chris lived in Fresno for the past 60 years where they raised their family and lived until she passed.
Chris worked at Life of Virginia and Teachers Management Investments for many years as an Administrative Assistant. Chris enjoyed being a member of the American Camellia Society, and traveling with Art to camellia shows across the U.S. She spent countless hours of dedication at St. George Greek Orthodox Church cooking for their Greek Food Festival. She belonged to the Daughters of Penelope and was an active member of the Athena Philoptochos Society until her passing. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren teaching them how to make baklava and passing on Greek traditions.
Survivors include her husband, Art Gonos; her brother, Dr. James (Sophia) Angelos, her children, Debbie (Sam) Martin, Michael Gonos, Kathleen Gonos, Angelo Gonos and Demitri (Sarah) Gonos. She was Yiayia to her grandchildren, Nicole (Kevin) Korb, Jennifer Martin, Demitri Gonos, Hannah Gonos, Tyler Gonos and Nathan Gonos and great grandchildren, Dylan Korb and Ethan Korb.
Services will be held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church at 2219 N. Orchard, Fresno, CA on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. There will be a viewing at 9am with the funeral following at 10am. Burial will be at Belmont Memorial Park.
