Born on November 29, 1948, Connie lived an extraordinary life defined by creativity, hard work, and an unconditional devotion to her family. Though her path was rarely easy, she met every challenge with fierce determination and grace. As a single mother, she carried the weight of raising her children on her own, transforming what could have been hardships into a foundation of strength, love, and resilience for her family.
Her early professional journey began in agriculture, working diligently as a fruit packer and inspector. Her talent and dedication led her to a position with the USDA, beginning a proud career with the federal government that culminated in her serving as a respected tax auditor for the IRS, where she built lasting friendships and earned the deep respect of her colleagues.
Connie had a rare and brilliant creative spirit; she possessed an incredible gift for seeing possibilities where others saw very little. Music lived in her soul—she was a gifted singer and composer, and one of her proudest accomplishments was hearing her original songs played on the radio. Her imagination knew no bounds; she transformed simple materials into beautiful ceramics, delicate paper flowers, and custom jewelry. In leaner times, she used her artistic talents to create and sell handmade goods to support her family, teaching her children that success is determined by what you do with the talents you are given.
That powerful example of perseverance, self-reliance, and integrity left a lasting imprint. Her entrepreneurial spirit lives on directly through her children, all four of whom followed in her footsteps to become independent business owners.
Connie never met a stranger. Armed with a wonderful sense of humor, a quick wit, and a love for sharing vibrant stories, she had a way of making everyone feel instantly welcome, valued, and loved. She was boundlessly generous—if she saw someone struggling, she quietly stepped in to help. She also knew how to truly enjoy life, whether she was listening to her favorite song, "To All the Girls I've Loved Before," laughing with friends, or enjoying a memorable trip to the casino.
Connie was preceded in death by her beloved brothers, Richard, Johnny, and Bobby, and her sister, Carol.
Her greatest legacy is found in the family that meant the world to her. She was a fiercely proud mother whose love simply showered over her children. That love was so immense that she could be a little overly protective at times—constantly checking in with phone calls and texts, and always cautioning them to drive safely and stay out of harm's way. While those endless check-ins might have felt a bit excessive in the moment, her children always knew it came from a place of deep, unwavering devotion. They forever felt safe under her protective wing, a guardianship she will now continue to provide from heaven.
She is survived by her devoted children: Mike, Joey, Mark, and Yesenia (“Nena”). She is also survived by her sisters, Esther, Sylvia, and Esperanza; and her brothers, Michael and Jimmy. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her cherished grandchildren: Michael, Ashley, Jose, Matthew, Nadia, Jason, and Isaac; and her great-grandchildren: Cody and Elias, all of whom brought her endless joy, pride, and comfort. Her physical song has ended, but her beautiful melody will live on forever in the hearts of those she touched.
