Dar was born on November 2, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, and was the eldest of two children of Joseph and Marion Grebeck.
As a young girl growing up in the southwestern side of Chicago. Dar attended Blessed Agnes School before graduating from St. Barbara High School. After graduation, Dar began working as a secretary for the U.S. Army, where she met her future husband, Keith, who was assigned to the Fifth Army Headquarters. They were married in 1963 in Chicago and traveled cross-country through Yellowstone National Park as they made their way to Fresno, California, where they eventually settled in the Sunnyside neighborhood.
Dar worked as the office manager for Dr. William Pillor in Sanger, CA, for several decades. She made many friends from her interactions with patients, pharmaceutical reps, and others in the close-knit community. Dar eventually left the medical field and began working at the Fresno CHP office as a clerk where she was responsible for arrest reports for thirteen years. Dar was known to make friends out of complete strangers, and she will always be remembered for her contagious laugh and sense of humor. She was an avid shopper and could always be found in her favorite stores buying bargains during their biggest sales.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Dar cherished time with her family. She was a proud and supportive mother to her two sons and was the loudest cheering fan in the stands. She loved playing cards and board games with family and friends and would do almost anything to try to win! She was an avid lover of music and played both the accordion and piano, and loved to sing.
Dar was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marion Grebeck, and by her loving husband, Keith Matsumura.
She is survived by a sister, Donna Vincenti and her husband, Don (Nieces: Nicole and Gina, Nephew, Marc); her two sons: David Matsumura and his wife, Cathi, and Matthew Matsumura and his wife, Duvi; grandchildren Cameron, Danielle, and Matthew.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at Kaiser Permanente, the California Armenian Home, and Hinds LifeCare for their dedicated and compassionate care.
A memorial service will be held on March 31, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Avenue, in Fresno, California.
