David John Russell

David John Russell passed away on October 22, 2025, a day after his 77th birthday. The eldest of five siblings, David was born in Spokane, Washington, to Kenneth and Margaret Russell on October 21, 1948.

David served in both the U.S. Army and Navy before marrying his wife Erlinda in 1987 and welcoming their daughter Jan in 1988. The family lived in San Diego and Las Vegas before eventually settling down in Fairfield, California.

After retirement, David and Erlinda moved to Fresno, California. David was a man of both very few and very many words. His highest compliment, “it’s fantastic,” was reserved for only the very best meals and adventures. His favorite adventures included going to the city to watch the San Francisco Giants play, visiting his daughter and son-in-law in Vancouver, BC., and seeing his siblings at family reunions. He also loved adding hats to his collection from every city he visited.

David is survived by his wife Erlinda, daughter Jan Bevilacqua and son-in-law Filippo; siblings Cindy Billington and husband Richard, Cathleen Reynolds and husband Stewart, Douglas, and Daryl; aunt on his father’s side Geraldine Milton; many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews; extended family Lorenzo Leonida, Rosalinda Cartagena, Cristina Cagubat, and their children and grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at 12:00 p.m., followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. on November 1, 2025 at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Avenue, Fresno, California, 93720.
