“Dean Lee Kourafas, June 16, 1956 – May 3, 2018. After an inspiringly courageous struggle with leukemia, Dean passed at Stanford University Hospital on May 3 surrounded by his family. Dean was many things. He was the son of James and Patricia Kourafas. He was the father, best friend, and life coach of his four sons, Joseph, James, John, and Jacob. He was the loving long-time partner of Elissa Altamirano. He was the beloved younger brother of Tom, Michael, and Rick Kourafas. He was the exemplary uncle of seven. He was a great-uncle to seven. Dear Joey, Jimmy, John and Jake,
We are so sorry for your loss of you father, he was taken far too soon. We always have had fond memories of him. A father is the greatest influence in turning boys into men and judging from the fine young men you have all become, he did an exceptional job. We had hoped to attend the funeral but Meme’s health prevented us from going. We have included your father and all of you in our daily rosary.
Please convey our condolences to your family.

I am so greatful to have had Dean in my life for over 51 years! I still remember the day when he got his drivers License before all of us! Pats car, (MOM) was packed to the hard top! We all were raised with such loving parents, Greek, Armenian, Jewish, Irish. All our parents had so much fun together and all the “Bullard Brat Pack” as we were called, are still close loving friends today. We were always grazing for food which all our Mom’s made sure we never went without! While our Dad’s golfed, skied, worked and had fun always!!

We all have a piece of our hearts that broke the day we lost our dearest friend! Dean always gave the best hugs, we laughed until we cried, we danced and sang the nights away! To say he will be dearly missed is an understatement!! We love you buddy!! Love Shelley Perkins Brose’

I have known Pat and Tommy for many years and wish to express my deepest sympathy to the entire Kourafas Family for the loss of your beloved Dean. Although I only met Dean once and found him to be very friendly and nice, Pat used to talk about him lovingly and frequently. May he live on in all of your hearts and memories forever. Rest in Peace, Dean.

I didn't know Mr. Kourafas. But I did go to school with Joey and Jimmy. My heart goes out to all four of you boys and the rest of the family. May you remember all of your special times together.
