Delbert was born on February 26, 1935 in Fresno to Alex and Emma Spomer and attended John Muir Elementary, Hamilton Junior High, and graduated from Fresno High in the class of 1954. Following graduation, Delbert began a long career working as the warehouse manager for Associated Candy and Tobacco of Fresno.
Delbert met Doctor Marylyn Jean Bradley on August 14 of 1977 and they had their first official date in December of that same year. Their courtship turned into true love and they were married in June of 1978. Together, they enjoyed many trips to Pismo Beach, staying at the Kon Tiki, and years of traveling all over the United States and Canada.
After retiring, Del spent several semesters studying at Fresno City College. Del loved playing tennis and the slot machines in Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe. During the Easter of 1987 Del received the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Catholic Church and received his First Holy Communion. Marylyn and Del were members of the Shrine of Saint Therese, St. Mary Queen of the Apostles, and St. Anthony of Padua. To celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in 1998, Marylyn and Del renewed their wedding vows in a memorable and romantic visit to Lake Tahoe.
Del’s pride and joy were his miniature dachshunds Gretal, Hannah, Heidi, Emma, and Mollie.
