Della Mae Wright, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Monday, August 17th with her son and grandson by her side at Clovis Community Hospital. She had just turned 86 years old.
Born July 6th, 1940, in Fresno California to Dan and Sylvia Gilio. She leaves behind her sons David Wright and Danny Wright and his wife, Susan Wright. Her grandchildren Corbin Wright, Alana Wright, and Brennan Milne. Her daughter in law Jenny Wright. Her brother Bill Gilio and his wife Lenzetta. She also leaves behind cousins, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Sylvia Gilio; her brother, Danny Gilio; her partner of 35 years, Tom Anderson; and her son, Doug Wright.
After their marriage, Della and her husband Floyd moved around the state following work opportunities. In 1979 they finally landed back in Fresno where she stayed for 45 years, until she moved to an assisted living facility in Clovis. Della retired from the Fresno County Assessor's Office in 2004. During her retirement, Della loved gardening and traveling with her partner of 35 years, Tom Anderson.
Della was a wonderful mother and grandmother, always willing to help whenever she could, doing her very best to make the holidays feel special, and always being there for anyone who needed her. She adored her grandchildren. She had a heart of gold. All of her friends and care givers have said how kind and sweet she was to everyone. She will be missed by many.
A visitation will be held at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720, 9/2/26 from 3:00pm to 6:30pm with a Rosary from 6:30pm to 7:00pm.
Services will also be held at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720, 9/3/26 from 10:00am to 11:00am.
