He was born in Sonoma, CA to Malcolm and Melba Coombs on October 14, 1937 and was the youngest of two sons. As a young man he grew up in Garberville, CA and worked in the logging industry. He proudly played football and graduated college at UC Berkeley. He later made quite a name for himself as a successful Land Developer dba Coombs Inc...
The litany of contributions and impact he had on the community are endless and range from, scholarships, St. Agnes, Bulldog Foundation, Rotary and Fresno Convention and Visitor bureau to name just a few.
He lived a big life and left it with no regrets. He traveled the world, built an empire and is fondly remembered for his boundless generosity, his robust infectious laugh, the clever one liner sayings and making absolutely everyone he came in contact with feel like the most special person in the room. One always felt motivated, encouraged and uplifted after sharing time with him. He was the utmost optimist, a fitness fanatic and had impeccable taste in everything he did.
When all is said and done, his greatest joy in life were his two daughters and three granddaughters - oldest, Shannon Coombs Selby, and her daughters Kylie Delaine Selby and Jessie Lynn Selby; youngest daughter, Shelley Coombs and her daughter Cody Coombs Anderson.
A Celebration of Life to be held at the Ranch at a later date.
