Diana Ruth Steitz
June 19, 1935 – July 30, 2026
It is with deep sadness and loving hearts that we announce the passing of Diana Steitz, who left us peacefully on July 30, 2026 at the age of 91.
She was born June 19, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard and Marjorie Twombly. She is a graduate of the Fresno High School, Class of 1953. She attended Fresno City College and earned an AA degree and then married her husband of over 50 years Don Steitz. She worked for over 35 years at Vie Del Winery, before retiring to care for her husband.
As a young child, her parents and siblings lived in Salt Lake City and North Hollywood before settling in Fresno. She attended Jefferson Elementary and Hamilton Junior High.
Ruth excelled as a wife and mother. She was always there for her five children. She would take the family on summer vacation trips to San Diego, Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Newport Beach, Big Sur, Canada, San Francisco, Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, and Fish Camp snow trips.
She also was actively involved in Beta Sigma Phi Fresno Chapter for over 55 years, serving in numerous leadership capacities, including Area President.
She was a dedicated San Francisco Giants fan and faithfully attended Fresno Grizzlies games.
Diana is survived by her daughter Kim Zuercher, her son-in-law Robert, her son Ken Steitz, her daughter-in-law Elaine, her son-in-law Mark Gardner, and her daughter-in-law Karen Steitz, her brother Jerry Warner and sister Vesta Graf plus numerous nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Diana was preceded in death by her husband Don Steitz, her sons Keith Steitz and Kevin Steitz and her youngest daughter Kerry.
A private memorial service will be held August 20th.
