Dick Richard Mooradian was born on April 7, 1958, at Selma Hospital in Selma, California, to Jake and Diane Mooradian. He was the youngest of three children, joining his older siblings, Mark and Caron. Dick experienced the loss of his brother Mark in 1971, a loss that remained part of his family's story throughout his life.
Dick passed away on June 19, 2026.
Dick attended Selma High School and graduated with the Class of 1976. During his time at Selma High, he lettered in both track and field and wrestling, demonstrating the competitive spirit and determination that would remain with him throughout his life. Following high school, he attended Fresno State, where he pursued his interest in engineering. During his time at the university, Dick was an active member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, where he formed friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime.
Throughout much of his life, Dick worked alongside his father on the family ranch, helping grow grapes that were later dried into raisins. He took pride in the family business and in the values of hard work and dedication that came with it. Later in life, Dick sold the family ranch and purchased an almond grove, continuing his connection to agriculture and the land he loved.
Dick was known for his kind heart and generosity, especially during holidays and special occasions. Family and friends could always count on receiving one of his famous baskets of dried fruit and nuts, a simple gesture that became a lasting symbol of his thoughtfulness and care for others.
In 1993, Dick married Barbara Mooradian. During their years together, they shared many adventures and enjoyed playing co-ed softball as members of The Comets. In 2001, they welcomed their son, Jacob Mooradian, who became one of Dick's greatest joys and proudest accomplishments. Jacob married Maria in 2023, and Dick loved her as if she were his own daughter and cherished the time they spent together. Although Dick and Barbara's marriage ended in 2012, they remained friends throughout the years that followed.
Dick lived life with enthusiasm and pursued many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed fishing, painting, bodybuilding, and wrestling. His adventurous spirit even led him to participate in a WWE-style wrestling competition in San Francisco and a bodybuilding competition in Venice Beach, California. Dick also had a passion for rockets and innovation and was proud to hold a patent for a flat-sided rocket design.
Above all, Dick will be remembered for his generosity, creativity, sense of adventure, and the kindness he showed to those around him.
Dick is survived by his son, Jacob Mooradian, and his wife, Maria; his sister, Caron Hope, and her husband, Mike; his nieces, Cara and Breana; his former wife and friend, Barbara Mooradian; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Lisle Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a graveside burial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to return to Lisle Funeral Home for a reception with food as loved ones gather to share memories and celebrate Dick's life.
He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, curiosity, and adventure that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
