Donald Ray Loyd

Don went to Mt. Whitney High school in Visalia, Ca., where he excelled in football, baseball, basketball, and track, lettered in every sport, was all conference football and baseball all four years of High School. He was Athlete of the year in 1961. At age 45 Don returned to and finished University of San Fransisco with a BS degree.

Mr. Loyd retired from Save Mart Supermarkets after 47 years. he was promoted to Store Manager at age 26. At the the time no one had held that position at that young age. He was a founding member of New Covenant Community Church, where he was very active in Men's Ministry and Prayer Ministry, as well as served as a Deacon, on the Personnel Committee and took men through the 'Timothy Program'.

Don was married to the love of his life, Marcy Runnels Loyd for almost 45 years. He once said the best gift he had ever received was the gift of marriage to Marcy and the three boys. Don loved to travel and was crazy about his four grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Loyd; his mother, Louise Helget; son, Ronny Glen Loyd; and son, Darrell Loyd;

Don is survived by his wife Marcy; two sons, Kevin, his wife Abette and their daughter Alanna Loyd, and Jerry Loyd and his son Jeremiah Loyd; Darrell's daughters, Brittany and Courtney Loyd; one brother, Rondald Loyd and his wife Wesley of Visalia, Ca.; several uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.

Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Monday, August 6, 2012, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m..

A Celebration of Don's Life will be held at New Covenant Community Church, 1744 E. Nees, Fresno, Ca. 93720 on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Don requested cremation.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation in Don's name be made to New Covenant Community Church Building Fund or General Fund.
