Doris Miyako Nii

Doris Miyako Nii passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the age of 90. Doris was born on September 5, 1935 in Santa Maria, CA. She grew up in Guadalupe and Fresno, spending part of her childhood in the Jerome, AK and Gila River, AZ internment camps. She attended Edison High School, 4Cs College, and worked for the CA State Division of Highways before becoming a homemaker, raising her 4 children.

Doris enjoyed traveling with her husband George and their friends; spending time with family, especially with her eight grandchildren; playing Bunco with her friends; volunteering at the Fresno Buddhist Church; and her hobbies, sewing and baking.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, George Nii. She is survived by her children, Tammy Kawakami and husband Mark, Marna Nii Kizior and husband Mark, Kevin Nii and wife Karen, David Nii and wife Sabrina; grandchildren, Emily Toy and husband Brandon, Megan Kawakami, Ryan and Erik Kizior, Hannah and Alex Nii, Jenna and Katelyn Nii; sisters, Terrie Araki, June Aoki and husband Melvin, Nancy Matsuura and husband Ken; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 10:00 am at the Fresno Buddhist Temple, 2690 East Alluvial Ave, Fresno, California 93720.
