Dorothy Kachadurian, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin entered the loving embrace of our Lord, surrounded by her family, on August 24, 2023 at 1:28am, her 90th birthday.
Dorothy was born on August 24, 1933 in Fresno, CA to survivors of the Armenian Genocide.
Dorothy attended Barstow Elementary and graduated in 1951 from Central Union High School. She spent several years on her reunion committee and enjoyed reconnecting with her classmates.
In her teenage years, Dorothy worked at the Farmer’s Market BBQ stand where Henry was known to hang around waiting for the opportunity to talk to her. She went on to work at the phone company, Sear’s credit department and alongside her husband Henry in the tire business. In her retirement years, she worked at the Fresno Convention Center’s box office where she became quite popular amongst all who wanted tickets. When not working, she could be found in the St. Paul Armenian Church kitchen or in the bleachers of schools and parks all over California cheering on her children and grandchildren. She was mom and grandma to everyone she met and loved having all gather at her home for a meal, party and glass of wine.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Henry Kachadurian, parents Khachadoor Garabedian and Mariam and Krekor Kalenian, older brothers Charles and Martin Garabedian, and cousins Suzanne Boroyan, Marguerite Lewis and Regine Wilson.
Dorothy is survived by her 5 children; Dianne Antranikian and husband Harold, Allen Kachadurian and wife Erin, James Kachadurian and wife Katherine, Karen Hawkins and husband Daniel, and Karole Allbritton and husband David. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and their spouses, 3 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren with number 8 due at the end of the year, cousins Helia Lew and Gisele Woodman, and numerous nephews, nieces and extended family.
