Our very beautiful mother, Dorothy Lee Mischler, otherwise known as Dottie, left us to be with our lord, January 28th, 2014. She was dearly loved and will truly missed, yet always fondly remembered, by her family and friends.
Mom was born Dorothy Lee DeJarnatt on July 21st, 1921. She graduated from Fresno High School and the University of Santa Barbara with a major in Home Economics. Mom loved to sew, cook, decorate, and was gracious hostess. We often found her in her garden with gloves on and towel in hand planting her colorful flowers, And yes, she would "shop til she dropped" with her amazing determination.
Always active, Mom served as a president of the La Comida Guild, played golf at San Joaquin Country Club, loved her tennis and bridge games with good friends, volunteered at St. Agnes Hospital and attended Northwest Church for many years.
Known for her smile and great sense of humor, Mom always enjoyed a good party, a good joke, and a great trip; of which she went on many. She was a die hard Giants fan, and spent years enjoying tailgates with friends in the 'red lot' and traveling to see the Fresno Bulldogs play football..
Music held a special place in Mom's life. She had a beautiful voice, could play a 'mean' piano and played the accordion for functions all over the Valley as a young woman. Throughout our lives, many spirited family jokes centered-around that accordion.
Mom loved her family and their together. She was preceded in the death by her husband; Orval R. Mischler. She survived by her children Deedee Johnson, Teri Mischler and jerry Mischler; four grandchildren, Grant and Todd Johnson, Taylor and Jordan Mischler; and one great-grandchild, Christian Johnson. Mom is also survived by her long time Companion, good friend and dance partner, Julian Crow of Tacoma, WA
We want to thank her very loving and dedicated care-givers; Debra (Debbie) Rose and Tracy Robinson. They have been a blessing to all of us during the past few years, treated Mom like a queen and to have truly becomes members of our family.
A graveside service for Mom will be held at Belmont Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, February 5th, 2014 at 11:00A.M.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the La Comida Children's Hospital Guild of Fresno or the Animal Compassion Team of Fresno, or the Valley Animal Center of Fresno.
