His parents, two brothers Anthony & Robert Cappelletti, son Anthony Mosesian Cappelletti, a brother in-law Alan Young, and two sister-in-laws Arlene Young and Gay Cappelletti, preceded him in death.
Growing up in the Italian District of Cleveland, OH, Edward was always surrounded by family and friends enjoying much of his mother’s Italian cuisine. It was convenient that woods and berry bushes surrounded their home, which kept the four boys out of the house. Their mother often put them to work picking berries for her various desserts. Edward learned to cut hair from his father, a skill that served him well at Miami University, Oxford, OH, where he would offer haircuts for extra cash. He received his B.S./B.A. from Miami and proudly wore his class ring for much of his life.
Edward enlisted and served in the Army from 1964 to 1966 that garnered him Vietnam Service and Good Conduct Medals. Soon after returning to the states, he purchased his 1966 Convertible Mustang, “Hoss”, and drove cross country to Los Angeles, CA to pursue his Master’s at UCLA. A social and outgoing type, he quickly added to his group of close friends referred to as the “Stoner Avenue Gang” named for the street they lived on. Often they would hang out at Manhattan Beach. On one particular afternoon, a beautiful young woman who was out walking her dog caught Edward’s eye. It was in this moment that he met the love of his life, Joylene. The two have been inseparable since.
Together they enjoyed riding in Hoss up and down the California Coast line visiting Monterey, Carmel, Santa Cruz and San Francisco, where Edward later found work. It was not until they settled down to start a family did they find themselves back in Fresno where camping trips to Yosemite became their new “weekend getaways.”
Always determined to better himself, Edward received his M.B.A. from California State University, Fresno, making him more marketable in the Central Valley arena. For well over a decade, he worked for the City of Fresno, and was very active in the development and growth of its long-range technical structure. His talent was recognized by other large companies who swooped him up to serve the West Coast Region. Not one to slow down, upon retirement Edward stepped in to assistant Joylene’s family with the management of their raisin vineyards in Selma.
His highest honor was that of fathering his children. Edward was very active with his kids. He coached soccer, baseball and basketball, served as PTA President, built scenery, participated in the YMCA programs, went camping and fishing, but most importantly always supported their paths and journeys, near and far.
A strong, kind, loving man, with a wicked sense of humor, he will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
Edward is survived by his wife Joylene, his daughter and son-in law Sunshine Cappelletti and Christopher Ross; his sons Dominic and Gabriel Cappelletti; grandsons Anakin, Griffin and Cyrus; his brother Ronald Cappelletti; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and three sister-in-laws.
