Edythe was born in New Sweden, Minnesota on March 5, 1921 and died in Fresno, California, March 29, 2012. She moved to Fresno in 1943 when she married John McCarthy. She was an executive secretary. Edythe was a member of and past president of YLI.

Edythe was preceded in death by her husband; her sisters, Esther and Gloria; and her brother Peter.
She is survived by son, Tom and his wife Sophia; daughter, Kristi, daughter Kathy and her husband John Rabb; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her sister Mary and brother-in-law Bill Dunlap; many nieces and nephews. Edythe will be missed by all who knew her.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Memorial Mass will be held at St. Agnes Mission Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at 11:00 a.m.
Remembrances may be sent to Hinds Hospice or to the Animal Rescue of Fresno.
