Eileen Jean Nicolet
January 18, 1932 to January 16, 2023
Our dear mother, Eileen Nicolet, was welcomed into heaven just two days short of her 91st birthday on January 16, 2023. During her last days she was being cared for by the wonderful caring staff at St. Agnes Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Nicolet, her parents James and Susan McDevitt, her sister, Sue Utrecht of Troy, Ohio, her brothers, Thomas McDevitt and James McDevitt both of Cincinnati, Ohio.
She is survived by her children, Andre’ Nicolet and his wife, Andrea Nicolet of Fresno, Paul Nicolet of Fresno, and Elizabeth Maeyama and her husband, Brian Maeyama of Rocklin, CA. She is remembered by her five granddaughters, Ava Maeyama, Aleyna Maeyama, Alivia Maeyama, of Rocklin, CA and Elizabeth Nicolet and Julia Nicolet of Fresno.
Eileen grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio where she attended Saint Marks Catholic School and the Ursuline Academy. She met her future husband, Fred, while working in Miami, Florida before relocating back to the State of Ohio where they started their family. They moved to Fresno, CA in 1971 where Eileen lived until her passing.
In addition to being a mother, wife and running the household, Eileen also stayed active with her faith, volunteering at St. Agnes Medical Center, she was a eucharistic minster at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, and the church secretary for several years at St. Paul’s Newman Center in Fresno. She also was a neighborhood coordinator for the national leukemia society fund raising drives.
A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 10:00AM. An Irish celebration of life and lunch will follow at The Breakfast House "Grand Banquet Room" 2085 N. West Bullard Ave., Fresno CA 93711 immediately following Mass.
