

Eli was born on November 3, 1961, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, to Reyita and Arturo Hernández. He spent the first 21 years of his life on the island he loved dearly, where he began his military career at a young age. His service later took him to Texas, where he met his dear wife, Irene. He completed his military career in Germany, went on to live in Mexico, and eventually settled in California, where he resided for the past 25 years.
Eli is survived by his devoted wife, Irene; his daughters, Cynthia and Rosslynn; and his cherished grandchildren, Charlotte and Bennett. He is also survived by his two sisters, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Arturo, and his parents, Reyita and Arturo Hernández.
Eli loved books, music, world history, baseball, and basketball. He will be remembered for his gentle and kind spirit. He was generous, thoughtful and compassionate. Though quiet by nature, those closest to him knew his playful side and his love for a good silly joke.
Eli will be profoundly missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
A funeral service will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home, located at 836 E. Nees Avenue, Fresno, California 93720. The service is scheduled for February 12, 2026, at 6:00pm.
The service will be live streamed via Zoom for those unable to attend in person.

Eli nació el 3 de noviembre de 1961 en Ponce, Puerto Rico, hijo de Reyita y Arturo Hernández. Pasó los primeros 21 años de su vida en la isla que tanto amaba, donde inició su carrera militar a temprana edad. Su servicio lo llevó posteriormente a Texas, donde conoció a su querida esposa, Irene. Completó su carrera militar en Alemania, vivió algunos años en México y, finalmente, se estableció en California, donde residió durante los últimos 25 años.
Eli deja en duelo a su devota esposa, Irene; a sus hijas, Cynthia y Rosslynn; y a sus adorados nietos, Charlotte y Bennett. También lo sobreviven sus dos hermanas, así como numerosos sobrinos y sobrinas.
Lo precedieron en la muerte su hermano Arturo y sus padres, Reyita y Arturo Hernández.
Eli amaba los libros, la música, la historia, el béisbol y el baloncesto. Será recordado por su espíritu amable y cortés. Era bondadoso, atento y compasivo. Aunque era de carácter tranquilo y reservado, los más cercanos a el conocían su lado juguetón y buen sentido del humor.
Eli será profundamente extrañado por su familia y por todos quienes tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo. Su memoria vivirá en los corazones de todos los que lo amaron.
Se llevará a cabo un servicio funerario en Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home, ubicado en 836 E. Nees Avenue, Fresno, California 93720.
