Our beloved Alice "Licha" peacefully passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021 surrounded by her "Angels" and family at the age of 93 in Fresno, CA.
She was born to Alejandro and Maria Serenil on December 2, 1927 in El Paso, Texas. She was the eldest of four children. Her sister Julia, brothers Jesse and Tony, her three children Sammy, Sandra, Molly as well as her "Abuelita" Antonia, Tia Katalina and mother Maria all welcomed her to rest in God's Hands.
She is survived by her youngest daughter, Evangeline "Vanji" and her husband Roger Bernal; five grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
"Licha" had a life of caring not only for her own children but for all who needed a helping hand. She volunteered as a Senior Companion for over 15 years. She also volunteered for the Fresno Rescue Mission, Red Cross, Veterans Hospital, Toys for Tots and a variety of Rest Homes all in Fresno.
Her love of crocheting led to a spirit of making and giving throw blankets to the rest homes and entering some of her "works of art" to Fresno Great Strides and Cystic Fibrosis raffles. She was a First Place winner twice in the Fresno County Fair for her crocheted creations.
"Licha's" love and skill of growing things like flowers and sago palms were a testament to her belief in being surrounded by "Angels". Her love and memories will comfort us as we begin our new journeys with her always in our hearts.
