Born April 20, 1933, in Fowler, California, Elizabeth Ann Gouveia walked barefoot to elementary school, not because she had to, but because she enjoyed the freedom to do so when she wanted. She is a 1952 graduate of Selma Union High School. She was married and widowed twice. Married to Tony Quiros, October 24, 1954, with whom she had two children, Elizabeth married again in 1971 to Tom Guynn.
Elizabeth was an observant and quiet person until she got to know and trust you. Then she felt comfortable exchanging stories in discussion. She could make you feel important no matter what was discussed. She loved ballroom, square, plus round dancing and also kept busy with different activities. She loved bass fishing, but most of all, she loved her job as an instructional assistant within the Fresno Unified School District wherein she was employed over 25 years. She worked at Heaton Elementary for 23 years, Robinson Elementary for one year and also Del Mar Elementary schools. She always felt reading was very important and would have students read to her. Her interest in helping people to read began when she was in her 6th grade as she helped her mother and another lady read so they could pass their tests to become citizens of the United States.
