She and her twin brother James were born in Lindsay, CA., on August 14, 1925, to Burrell and Nellie Ballew. She married her high school sweetheart, Preston Gandy, on June 3, 1944. In 1950, they, along with daughters Judy and Donna moved to Fresno, CA. Ella worked at St. Agnes Hospital for 35 years, a time she thoroughly enjoyed. She and Preston were also long-time members of Trinity Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband Preston, her brother Rev. James Ballew, and several dear family members.
Ella is survived by daughters Judy Beiden (Les) and Donna Holland (Ron), grandchildren Scott Beiden (Raquel), Ryan Holland, Joe Holland (Kim), Stacy Beiden, and Lori Hovet (Matt), and 13 great-grandchildren who lovingly called her “Gigi.”
A graveside service will be held at Fresno Memorial Gardens on Thursday, August 7, at 10:00 a.m. Donations can be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
