

Elmont passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday evening, April 2, 2013. He was born on June 12, 1928, in Bogue Chitto, MS, coming to California in the early 1940's with his family. He joined the U.S. Army in 1946 and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington.
In 1991, he moved to the Fresno area after retiring from 41 years at Douglas/Boeing in Southern Ca. Elmont enjoyed camping, fishing and music, playing both the harmonica and guitar. He won trophies through work for softball, bowling and golf. He could chat with anyone about anything and was well liked by those who knew him.
He was respected at work and known as a supervisor who would "get his hands dirty" in order to help. He earned the name "Road Map Sutton" among friends and co-workers because of his ability to remember every fork in the road, gas station or road cafe along highways.
Elmont was preceded in death by Patricia Ann Sutton, his wife of 43 years; his parents, PC and Lela Sutton; his sisters, Mona Knee and Marie "Sister" Lindsay; brothers, Ralph Sutton, TJ "Bob" Sutton, Devo Sutton, and Rudolph "Rudy" Sutton.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen "Kathy" Diaz; grandson, Brian Diaz (to whom he was "Pop"); his brother, Albert "Peanut" Sutton of Bogue Chitto, Ms.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., with burial to be held at Calvary Church Cemetery in Bogue Chitto, Ms. at a later date to be announced.
