She was was born in New York and moved to Fresno after her retirement with the New York Public Library. She graduated from Notre Dame College and received a Masters Degree in Library Science from Columbia University.
Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Browne.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Freeman and her husband Louis; her four grandchildren, Elizabeth Goodrich, Christopher Freeman, Andrew Freeman and Allison Murdoch and their husbands and wives; and eight great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Stephen, Samantha, Margaret, James, Charlotte, Jacob and Nathan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Nazareth House, on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 11:00 am.
