

Emma met the love of her life, Ramon Garza at a coffee shop where she was working as a waitress. They were both 17 years old at the time. Ramon enlisted in the US Army for a 3 year tour of duty but continued to communicate with Emma via letters which she still possessed. Soon after Ramon’s return they were married on Feb. 16, 1951. Emma helped raise her first two children in Kingsville, Texas. The family later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where they continued to grow their family to a total of 6 children. In April, 1964, they moved their family to Fresno, California. Emma was a devoted wife and homemaker who considered her family and children her “treasures.”
Emma enjoyed hosting and organizing family gatherings such as holidays, birthdays and anniversaries. She also enjoyed accompanying her husband Ramon and her children on RV camping trips to Morro Bay, Rock Creek, Hensley Lake and Choinumni Park for many years. Emma loved spending much of her time tending to her home’s landscape and garden which included various flowers, plants and fruit trees that the family enjoyed for decades at their two acre “ranchito.” In addition, Emma loved caring for her various domestic animals (her fur babies - consisting of cats and dogs) that were part of the family dynamics over the years. She was a remarkably loving, tough and strong woman who was very much loved and will be missed by many.
Emma was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, three brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by one sister from Corpus Christi, Texas and three brothers & one sister from Fresno, California.
Emma is survived by her children and their respective spouses: Bobby and Susan Garza, Rudy and Aurora Garza, Danny and Lulu Garza, Norma and Richard Vargas, Mary Perez, and Lucas and Noemi Garza. Her 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren will truly miss her.
