Loving step-father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away on March 26, 2011 at the age of 73. Rico was surrounded by family when he peacefully went to heaven. He was born in Los Angeles, Ca on February 26, 1938. He was a long time resident of Fresno.
Papa was the best grandfather a child could have. He was always there when they needed him and even when they didn't. He made sure to open his arms for a warm hug or laugh together. Papa loved to just watch them play.
Rico delivered produce to Fresno area restaurants and schools for many years. He made many friends along his routes, often coming home with treats chefs had prepared for him. On the weekends he went fishing with friends or sat, sharing a beer and a laugh. He fought cancer for many years and had a great love for life, but found peace that he would be joining his "Noni" in Heaven.
The family would like to send their sincere appreciation to Dr. Christopher Perkins and Nancy Hinds Hospice for their loving care in Rico's final days.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Pagliassotti.
Rico is survived by his step children, Dana Turner, Darin and Shannon Pereira; his grandchildren, Ethan and Jake Turner, Shelby, Macy, Bailey and Darin II Pereira all of Fresno; his brother, Gerald Pagliassotti and his wife Aida of Arkansas; his nieces, Jennie Wilson, Lissie Pagliassotti-Haage; and nephew, Gerald Pagliassotti Jr., and many great-niece and nephews.
A Chapel service in his honor will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Saturday, April 2, at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Nancy Hinds Hospice.
