Erma Madeline McGarrie

Erma Madeline McGarrie, 89, a long time resident of Houston, Texas was born May 18, 1927 in Montreal Quebec, Canada. She passed away on December 14, 2016. The past 2 years she resided in the mountain community of Oakhurst, California, close to her son, Brian Charlesworth.

She grew up in Quebec City and was 1 of 4 children. She married Edward Charlesworth in 1947 and had 2 sons, Brian and Richard. During her marriage to Edward Charlesworth they lived in Edmonton Alberta, Bay City Texas, The Hague Netherlands, Rye, New York and then made their final destination Houston, Texas.

Erma was a dedicated homemaker. She briefly worked as a receptionist for a real estate company in Houston, Texas. Her interests included reading, travel, gardening, cooking and entertaining. She spoke fluid French and always dressed impeccably. Erma enjoyed Dixieland music, English Tea and chocolate. Many times she referred to herself as a “chocoholic”.

Erma is survived by her son Brian, his wife Valerie, and granddaughter, Ashley Charlesworth.
