Ethel was a daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandma, great grandma, great great grandma, aunt, great aunt, and great great aunt, she filled a lot of shoes and did it well. Ethel was number 5 in a line of 13 siblings. Ethel is preceded in death by her husband Bob Williamson and daughter Nancy, and brothers Lloyd, Bernard, Rory, Walter and sisters Charlotte, Irene, Barbara and Helen. She has a living sister Elaine and brother Earl.
Ethel helped take care of all the younger children growing up. She gave birth to one daughter,
Nancy Jean Williams, who preceded her death. She had five grandkids; Bobbie and David Sotin, Leon Williams, Tina and Jeff Woomer. Seven great grandkids; Geanna, Victoria and
Levi Wharton, Kristin and Nathan Kahm, Erica and Bryan Marsh, Leon junior and Willow Williams. Along with eight great great grandkids; Hunter, Eli and Cole Berrier, Alyssa, Clayton, Connor and Chandler Wharton, and Cayden Marsh. Ethel loved and cherished all of them.
Ethel touched so many lives by her presence, she spent much time making sure everyone was happy when she was around. She loved to be visited by ALL. Everyone here, I'm sure, had some special memories with Ethel. Lori (Ethel's niece) remembers visiting Ethel and Bob as a young girl with her siblings. At the time, Ethel and Bob owned a small store in the trailer park where they lived, Lori and her siblings were excited that they were able to help work in the store. Tina, a granddaughter, shared a memory from when she was a kid. She went home with Ethel after she visited family on the Oregon Coast and by train back to Fresno. Ethel had bought Tina a purse and they shared butterscotch candies all the way to Fresno. In the last few years our family has done lots of selfies with mom and grandma Ethel. We had a great time with it. Ethel enjoyed her time relaxing while doing word searches, reading books, you could find them at second hand stores or at Wal-mart. In town she would watch people from the car (later when she did go but stayed in the car. Ethel's favorite candy was chocolate covered marshmallow eggs, so every year at Easter, Ethel would buy all the chocolate covered marshmallow eggs, dump them into freezer bags, and store them to love all year long. She was organized and always knew when you had a life event, (birthday, wedding, anniversary, the birth of a child) and she sent a card filled with warm and loving wishes.
Ethel lived with her daughter Nancy over the past 11 years; the two of them had a special and close relationship. After Nancy's passing in December of 2020, Ethel was cared for by her son-in-law Allen, as well as her granddaughters Bobbie and Tina. One month prior to her passing she came to live at Tina and Jeff's house. The room she spent her final weeks in was built just for her 11 years ago. The room was filled with warm natural sunlight that sparked into the room. In Ethel's final days she was surrounded by family, where she was pampered and cherished until the very end. As we close, let all of us consider the life and legacy of Ethel, in a way she would have wanted us to, by being together and bringing joy to each other.
