Eugenia Lynn Anderson passed away early on the morning of January 7th in her home surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born on March 14, 1949 in Fresno and grew up in the town of Kerman. Jean's family were grape farmers who called Kerman and Biola home for over three generations. With such deep roots in this small, close knit community Jean's passing will be felt by her many dear friends and family members.
Jean's greatest joys in life were her family and friends. On June 6, 1970 Jean married the love of her life and high school sweetheart Don Anderson and together they shared over 50 years of joy and laughter.
Jean worked for the USDA for many years starting as an inspector. By the end her career she was an area supervisor. More importantly, Jean was a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She took on these roles like it was her job, or more accurately like it was her life’s work. She never missed a card, a birthday, a holiday or a chance to celebrate. Jean showered all of us with her love and gifts constantly, and always made sure to do so evenly.
Jean had the best sense of humor; she never missed an opportunity to laugh. She was fair, devoted, committed and generous in all that she did and to all those she loved. Jean made friends wherever she went and always came home with a good story to tell. Christmas time was always a favorite of Jeans when she showered her kids and grandkids with gifts. While she is gone, the example that she set, with these qualities, will live on with each of us always. She loved sports and was an avid fan of the Cowboys, Giants, Warriors and Duke basketball, especially when her team covered the spread.
She was the much beloved matriarch of our family and she will be sorely missed.
Jean is survived by her husband of 50 years, Don, her beloved children Erin McKinney (Jeff) and Kevin Anderson (Wilana) and preceded in death by her parents Eugene “Doc” and Lorraine “Lo” Schwabenland, her son Kurt Anderson and her brother Rick Schwabenland. She is also survived by the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Paige Anderson, Avery Nestor and Lexi and Mason McKinney. Jean is also survived by her brother Bob Schwabenland, her sister Cathy Jerkovich (Jim) and her sister-in-law Jo Ann Schwabenland (Rick) along with several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Jeans life will be scheduled at a later date.
