Preceded in death by her parents Felipe and Carmen Holquin (Olguin), son George J. Arosteguy this February, and his son Jayson in 2009, brothers Frank, Ray and Louis Holquinn, and sister Alice Shook, she leaves behind daughter Georgia Vercoe, son-in-law Virgil Vercoe, grandchildren Ken and Leslie Vercoe, Jeffrey Arosteguy, great granddaughter Fawn Dehmel-Mendez, great grandchildren Aaron Dehmel, Jayson's Maryn and Noah and Jeff's Thurman Arosteguy, brothers Phillip and wife Marcella, Eugene and wife Esther, sister Emily Venegas, sister-in-law Mary Holquinn and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Born in Prescott, AZ, she held various jobs in her long life. Coming to the valley she worked as a young mother's helper, picking and packing fruit, counter and office worker for the IRS, Casner's, Chrisman's and TRIPLE J Drug stores and its small postal station, Coopers and Gottschalks. And she helped her late ex-husband with running George's Garage. After retiring in the 70's she loved being a Senior Companion for 12 years.
She was so right! She was made of tougher stuff than the rest of us as were her brothers as WWII veterans and her sister Emily as a WAVE. Evelyn chose no viewing or service and in lieu of flowers one may donate to the CCSPCA at 103 S. Hughes, Fresno in honor of her rescue cat Cindy. The family will later gather to celebrate her long life.
