

Farrell Green, age 86, was born on July 27, 1929, and passed away peacefully on August 30, 2015. He was a lifelong resident of Fresno and graduated from Roosevelt High School where he was a standout track and field athlete setting many longstanding records. When he was 20, he became a firefighter for the City of Fresno for 30 years. After retirement, he started his own apiary business. Farrell was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, backpacking, and sailing. He enjoyed sharing these activities with his family. He was the Boy Scout Trip coordinator for his sons' troop and was a long time member of the Fresno Yacht Club. His family genealogy and Fresno city history were interests of his. All of these pursuits created fond memories related through many stories told to family and friends. The family would like to thank his caregivers at Sunrise Assisted Living, especially Jessica and Melissa. He is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Berry; and his oldest son Thomas. He is survived by Jeanette, his wife of 58 years; his son, Tim and wife Brenda; his daughters, Teresa Hutchinson and husband Craig, Tracy Green and husband Kip, and Tamara Kirk and husband Mike; grandchildren, Joseph and Sam Hutchinson and Dylan and Alex Green. He is also survived by a daughter, Jan Smith; and a brother, Ferron Green.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Friday, September 4, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul Catholic Newman Center, on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
