Flavia R. Resendez, a beloved and cherished member of her family and community, passed away on November 29, 2025, at the age of 100. Born on May 7, 1925, in Granger, Texas, to her parents Sara Moncevais and Francisco Reyna, Flavia lived a life marked by compassion, hard work, and faithfulness.
In her personal life, Flavia was first widowed by her husband, Teodoro L. Mata, and later by her second husband, Robert F. Resendez. Her love for them lasted throughout their lifetimes.
Flavia devoted a decade to the IRS as a vital part of their building janitorial team. Her dedication and hard-working nature were evident in every role she undertook.
She is survived by her loving children, Janie R. Fernandez, Rosemary Pineda (Francisco Pineda), Eddie Mata, Ted Mata Jr., and Robert R. Mata. She also leaves behind wonderful stepchildren Bobby Resendez, Louie Resendez, Pete Resendez, Rita Resendez, and Priscilla Resendez.
Flavia's legacy continues through her 14 cherished grandchildren: Elizabeth Ann and Fernando Fernandez, Francisco Pineda Jr., Tina Marie Fernandez, Thalia Noemi Ramirez, Javier F. Pineda, Jose, Teddy, Sara, Eric, Shaunica, and Onica Mata, Teddy Mata III, and Natalie Acala. Flavia had also enjoyed the blessing of 8 Great-grandchildren, and 6 Great-great-grandchildren.
Flavia loved traveling and enjoyed taking in the sights and history of many different places. Above all else, she cherished spending time and making beautiful memories with her loving family.
Visitation will be held on January 21, 2026, at 6:00 pm at Palm La Paz Funerals & Cremations, located at 1605 L. Street #201, Fresno, CA. A Rosary Service will follow at the same venue at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will take place on January 22, 2026, at 10:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Newman Center, located at 1572 E Barstow Ave, Fresno, CA. The Committal Service will follow at 11:30 am at Fresno Memorial Gardens, located at 175 S Cornelia Ave, Fresno, CA.
Pallbearers will be Francisco Pineda Jr., Javier F. Pineda, Armando Ramirez Jr., Diego Pineda-Fernandez, Elizabeth Ann Fernandez, T.J. Mata, Katarina Pineda, and Anthony Ramirez
Flavia's compassionate spirit and unwavering faith will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
