

Fred was born in Fresno, CA to Danny and Connie Lopez, the second of four children. He was raised in
Clovis, CA and attended Clovis High School where he met and married the love of his life and high
school sweetheart Diana Capps. After getting married, Fred joined the United States Marine Corps and
served in Vietnam where he was wounded in action on three occasions and achieved the rank of
Sergeant. After serving, he raised his family in Clovis and later settled in the Madera Ranchos.
Fred spent the last 40 years as an Insurance Broker and was associated with James G. Parker Insurance
during this time. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, bass fishing and playing golf with his
two sons, family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his 3 grandchildren, Samantha,
Casey and Eric, and seeing them grow. Fred spent many days golfing and had developed a special bond
and friendships with all of his golfing buddies out at DragonFly Golf Club. He enjoyed living life on his
terms and making many treasured friends along the way.
Fred is survived by his lifelong love and wife of 54 years, Diana Lopez, his two sons Fred Jr and his wife
Terri, Lance and his wife Chris; and three beloved grandchildren Samantha, Casey and Eric. He is also
survived by his brother Dan Jr and sister Irene Lopez, many cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as the
entire Darnell family - all of whom were very dear to him.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents Danny Sr. and Connie, and his younger brother Clifford.
A Rosary will be held at the Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns and Blair Funeral Chapel on Wednesday,
September 1st, 2021 at 6:00 PM PST at 836 E. Nees Ave, Fresno CA 93720.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church located at 5770 N. Maroa Ave 93704 in Fresno CA. on Thursday September 2nd, 2021 at 10:00 AM PST.
A luncheon reception will follow immediately at the Elite Event Center at 4105 W Fig Garden Dr., Fresno CA. 93722.
Interment with military honors will be held at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella,
CA at a future date.
