Fu Mouacheupao was born in Naj Vej, Laos on January 12, 1974 to Yong Vang Mouacheupao and Sia Lee. He has 2 siblings, an older sister, Mang and a younger sister, Nancy. His paternal grandparents are Cher Pao Moua & Tru Thao and maternal grandparents are Joua Lou Lee & Yer Vang. In 1976, at 2 years old, Fu and his family came to the United States arriving in Boston, Massachusetts. His family then moved to Pennsylvania, then North Carolina and finally in Fresno, California in 1982.
He graduated from Duncan Polytechnical High School in 1992 then attended California State University of Fresno for 3 years. Fu served in the United States NAVY for 8 years; 2 years active duty and 6 years inactive reserves. While in the military his primary specialties were infantry, gun, crews and seamanship. He received a National Defense Service Medal, a Southwest Asia Service Medal and a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. During his service he was able to travel and see the world. After an honorable discharge from the US NAVY, Fu returned home to help take care of his mother and younger sister.
Fu married his wife, Seng Vang in 1998. They were blessed with their first child, Elizabeth, in 2007 and their second child, Matthew, in 2015. Fu was a very loving and playful father, who was always there for his family. He worked all of his life from the age of 14 until his death. He was honored to be able to continue serving for the Department of Homeland Security – Transportation Security Administration at the Fresno Yosemite International airport, where he was employed for 9 years with a total of 17 years of federal service.
On Friday evening, August 10, 2018, Fu was admitted to St. Agnes Medical Center and passed away on Saturday morning, August 11, 2018 due to a heart attack. Fu is remembered as a genuinely hardworking, dedicated, kind, humble and loving person with a great sense of humor, who loved to make people laugh. He is loved by many and will be profoundly missed.
