I grew up on the West side and even knew the Tokiwa restaurant when it was run by the Matsuuras. I loved the pork noodles and the Tokiwa special chow mein. Even when I went away to college , married then moved out of state. We always stopped by the restaurant when we returned to visit.
During my pregnancy and living in New Mexico, I craved was the pork noodles and Tokiwa special chow mein. I t was pure torture dreaming of steaming noodles. Other restaurants just didn't come close to the flavors. The Iwahashis were always smiling and wonderful people. My condolences to Gordon, his brothers, and the families.
