To Bill Vanoni and family
I was saddened to read about your mom, Georgia, had passed. Do I have fond memories of her from my childhood.  We were neighbors, and my mom, Dorothy, and Georgia would always talk and visit as we lived around the corner.  I remember your mom driving the school bus for several years. In fact, she let us walk to the house to get on the bus. Just a couple of years ago, I visited with your mom in the Central Library--where I worked until I was transferred to a branch library.  I was surprised to see that your mom was still active and getting around.  Sadly, Dorothy passed away in Feb. 2012. Mom was at home most of the time until the last 5 months. My sister, Julia, is currently living in Maine.
I will always remember your mom as a very caring person.  It takes a special person to be able to drive a school bus, for as many years as she did.

We offer you our condolences and prayers at this time of your loss. Georgia was such a good friend to my parents Joe and Pauline Silveira she was such a wonderful, caring person.

I first got to know Georgie about 65 years ago when I became friends with her brother Red. As the years went by I did not see her very often but when I did she was just as when I first knew her - a very kind, gentle, and sweet person but also with an inner strength and a willingness to help at any time.
She will be missed.

Georgia was our neighbor, our family friend and my bus driver at least my first year of high school. I was always the first rider on because the end of our driveway was directly across from the Vanonis'. I enjoyed riding with her and I would sit up toward the front of the bus so she and I could talk until we started picking up other kids. She seemed genuinely interested in our lives. All the other kids seemed to like her, too. Since she had three of her own, she just seemed to be such a natural in relating to the other kids. We also felt safe, because no one handled a big bus any better than Georgia; I mean no one! She was also very kind and generous. The Vanoni's used to take me as a kid to the hardtop races at Kearney Bowl and that was so much fun! I remember when my mother and sister were traveling together out of town, she had my Dad, brother and me for dinner more than once. I remember her fixing us kids snacks on rainy days when we played Monopoly in her front room. At my father's funeral, Georgia came up to me before I gave his eulogy, and gave me a big hug and that seemed to somehow make it easier. Thank you, Georgia, for making my childhood that much more special! You've earned a rest good and faithful servant! With fond memories and deepest sympathy for the Vanoni family, Ed Dunn III

When I think of riding the bus to school, I can't help but think of Mrs. Vanoni.  Every morning I would hop on the bus and say hi Mrs. Vanoni.  In the 1960's she was the bus driver for kids in the Sunnyside area.  She was a very kind woman, great with kids and did a wonderful job keeping everyone in line.  I am sorry to read of her passing.  Thank you Mrs. Vanoni for the wonderful childhood memories. God bless.
