Glen Joe Wool

Glen Joe Wool departed peacefully in Fresno, California on January 9, 2019 at the age of 99. He is survived by his, son Michael, brother Ken, and sisters Susan and Jean. Glen was oldest of 7, born on November 20, 1920 in China to Hu Kung-Wu and Chow Hon-Choa. After immigrating to America, where he lived in Oakland. During WW-II as a US Army sergeant he drove the Burma Road in an all Chinese company. Glen met a Fresno local gal, Ada Lum at a military social event, following armistice, he married her on February 9, 1952. Their first home was on Fresno St, their first grocery store Sunset Market and first restaurant was Sampan. The couple welcomed 2 children into their home, Michael and Lisa, then set about teaching them social skills and responsibilities to humanity. Michael became a research physician, writer and film maker and Lisa a mother and lawyer. Glen like his father was accomplished in business. He was a devoted loving husband for 67 years, father, generous and witty friend to all. He loved black bass fishing, Chinese chess, Pai Gow, oil painting, koi fish and his friends. His favorite food was roast duck, roast pork and soy sauce chicken.
A celebration of his life will be at 4:00 pm at New City Restaurant, 14884 E. Shaw St., on January 26, 2019.
