Guadalupe Teixeira

Lupe lived faithfully and loved fully for her 92 years here on earth, having taken the difficulties of her early life- separation from family, the Great Depression, the merging of separate cultures- and through them, along with her faith in the Lord and love in heart, fashioned the strong character with which she raised her family, making sure they never went without.

Lupe, a twin, was born on July 19, 1920 in Brawley California. The daughter of immigrant farmers from Mexico, she grew up helping her father raise watermelons and crops both in the United States and Mexico. As she would later tell her family, such work in both countries was necessary to make sure the family had enough to eat.

Her father's enterprising spirit and work ethic rubbed off on her, and she later opened up a Dress Shop, while simultaneously holding jobs in a restaurant and a ticket booth at the local Crest theatre. It was at this theater where she met her husband Tony, having sold him an orange soda and candy bar. They would later marry and settle on the Teixeira family farm in Kerman California- a place that was marked by her simple, sincere, productive and loving spirit. They were married for 36 years.

The family would like to extend its most sincere thanks and kindest regards to Drs. Louis Pardini, the late Rob Smith, Mark Cunningham, Kevin Kodama, Dr. Saul and the entire St. Agnes nursing and Palliative Care staff, and to caretaker Leticia Carbajal. You helped the family give her a beautiful and happy life in her later years and last days.

Lupe leaves behind her sons Mario (EI Primer), Pedro (su cada Domingo Pedro), Anthony (My Anthony),and her daughter Caroline (Caralina!!). She has 15 grandchildren, numerous great- grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 15437 W. Kearney Blvd., Kerman, on Thursday, August 30, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m, followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary, at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kerman on Friday, August 31, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
