Rocky Ventresca was born on September 2, 1954 in Fresno. His father Guido Ventresca, immigrated from Italy and his mother Doris Arlene Goulart, came from a large Portuguese family in dairy farming, from Kerman. His parents raised him and his two siblings to become lifelong friends. At the young age of 64, Rocky passed away peacefully on September 16, 2018, in his home with his loving family and friends at his side.
Rocky was a kind and gentle soul who genuinely cared about other people, and was a true friend to anyone in need. The love and committed respect he earned from family and friends is evidenced by the more than 20 visitors he received daily during his recent 12-night stay in the hospital. He loved his dog Buster, who was an energetic and constant companion to him. Rocky enjoyed reading a good book, watching his favorite football team-the 49ers, and was proud of his Italian-Portuguese heritage. Rocky could easily visit with his friends and family for hours on end. He loved home cooked pasta, playing Bocce ball with family, hunting and; found great joy in driving his big rig truck. Rocky took pride in the business of driving for over 20 years, and he eventually owned and operated his own RGV Trucking Company.
The determination Rocky showed and great resolve to improve his life throughout the years, earned him the respect and admiration of those around him. He would always listen and lend a hand to others, who needed that strength and support as well.
Rocky left us too soon, and too quickly. He is loved and will be missed by many. He will be carried forever in the hearts of his father, Guido Ventresca, brother John Ventresca and his wife Lucianna; his sister Lisa Bonadelle and her husband John. He will be dearly missed by nieces and nephews: Guido, Satrina, Nicolas and Giovanni Ventresca; John, Bianca and Mia Bonadelle. Rocky will also be missed by his aunt Joyce who traveled from Colorado to see him in his final hours, as well as his many, many loving cousins and close friends. Rocky was preceded in death by his mother Doris Ventresca, grandparents Emily and John Goulart; and his grandparents Luisa and Gentile Ventresca, who rest in Italy.
The family wishes to acknowledge Rose Martinez, Rocky’s dear friend, who provided compassionate and caring support for him during his times of need.
The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018, at 9:30am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, that remembrances be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at http://www.lls.org/.
