

Harold served with the United States Army's 44th Infantry Division in Europe during World War II, and was honorably discharged in 1945, as a 1st Lieutenant. While serving in Europe, Harold met the love of his life, Ruth, and they were married in 1946 after both returned from overseas. They then settled in Fresno, CA, where they started their family and remained lifelong residents. Harold worked as a plumbing, heating, and air- conditioning representative for 35 years.
Harold was preceded in death by Ruth, his loving wife of 56 years; his mother Rose; and step-father, Jack Ahsinger.
He is survived by his son, John Dahmer and his wife Susan of Fairfax Station, VA; daughters, Ruth Ragsdale and her husband Bob of Fresno, CA, and Michele Torres and her husband Rick of Valley Springs, CA. Harold is also survived by his five grandchildren, Dr. Stephanie Dahmer of Nashville, TN, Jennifer Beyreuther of Lorton, VA, Russell Ragsdale and Rodney Ragsdale of Fresno, CA, and Justin Torres of Valley Springs, CA; and 10 great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Friday, August 21, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church; or to the donors' favorite charity.
