Mrs. Helen Georgia Kanakaris

Evangeline Kirgeorge.

She attended Fresno schools and was a member of the Fresno High School Class of 1941.

Still in her teens, Helen married Tom Kanakaris of San Francisco, CA in July of 1942, shortly before he went off to World War II. It was a very loving union that was to last for 67 years until Tommy's death in 2011.

Helen was very sweet, kind, thoughtful and generous, and most of all she was devoted to and cherished all of her family throughout her life.

She was a longtime parishioner of St. George Greek Orthodox Church.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her much loved daughter Anita; her sister Clara; and brothers, Bill and Jim. Left to mourn her is her beloved son, Angelo and his wife Dee Anne; her sister Sophia; as well as many nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.

May her memory be eternal.

Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. followed by a Trisagion Service at 5:00 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Belmont
