Hitoshi "Pete" Nakayama passed away surrounded by his family on May 2, 2018. He was born in Parlier, California on March 28, 1924. Pete will be remembered for his generosity, honestly and work ethic, which he has passed to his children and grandchildren. He was a farmer in the Fowler area for 70 years.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents Sakuhei and Shime, four siblings Carole, George, Bob, Frank and his beloved son-in-law Russell Matsumoto.
Pete is survived by his wife 67 years Florence Umeko, four children, son Keith and his wife Heidi, son Gerald and his wife Cherie, daughter Susan Driss and her husband Bey, daughter Linda Matsumoto, sister Betty Sachiko, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Vintage Gardens, Central California Nikkei Foundation, Dr. Michael Gen, Dr. Steven Su, Dr. Alex Sheriffs and many others who through their efforts made Pete's life comfortable during his later years of life.
A celebration of Pete's life will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Buddhist Church of Fowler.
