Jay was born in Monterey, CA on July 3, 1935, his parents were Horace and Alice Bruno. He attended Catholic high school in Monterey, CA but unfortunately shy of graduating, he began working on his uncle’s commercial fishing boat to support his mother and sister after the passing of his father. In his thirties he worked in the auto service industry both in San Jose and Fresno, CA. At 51 years of age Jay opened his own business, ZJ’s Auto Body in Clovis, CA and in 1998 at 63 years married his wife, Irene. In the years that followed Jay and Irene enjoyed attending Hot August Nights in Reno traveling to Alaska, Mexico, and Lake Tahoe. They also loved spending lots of time on the coast, in Aptos, CA. In 2005 Jay sold his business and started a towing business. Jay loved to have home renovation projects around the home, where he would remodel, paint and repair . He was also a beloved volunteer at his wife’s school, where they adoringly nicknamed him “The Boss”. Sadly, at 80 years of age he suffered a stroke and found it difficult to work. Irene was his caregiver for seven years and was at his side at the time of his passing.
He is proceeded in death by his mother, Alice Bruno, his two sisters, Rosanne and Chitty and his brother Vince Bruno.
He is survived by his wife, Irene and many extended family members.
